The Deauville was originally created as a bag to store and transport beauty products which still makes the bag the perfect accessory for travels to this day – even though it’s chic enough to bring around every day as well.
The Deauville measures 34 x 25 x 13 cm and has two top handles. The bag has a zip closure, padlock and gold hardware. The Deauville is perfect for both every day use as well as larger trips due to its comfortable size and interior – it has multiple pockets and an ID holder in leather. It also features a leather trim on the front and back.
The most common rendition of the bag is the classic brown monogram canvas but it also comes in leather and suede. For the Pre-Fall 2013 collection the Deauville was reinvented with a tufting technique – inspired by carpet making – which gives the classic monogram a 3D effect.
For Fall/Winter 2019 Nicolas Ghesquière introduced the Mini Deauville. This is a smaller version of the original Deauville handbag with a size of 21 x 16 x 7 cm. The Mini has an adjustable and removable shoulder strap meaning the bag can be worn as a shoulder bag as well as a clutch. The Mini Deauville has a leather luggage tag, just like the original. The smaller version has an outside and inside flat pocket. The Mini Deauville is available in the new Since 1854 print as well as canvas.
